自分が設計をした空間に似合う椅子が欲しいと思いデザインをしました。 日本の空間は角材で構成される事が多く、この「U chair」も角材の構成で身体を心地よく支えながらも建築的で空間に馴染む事を考えています。 その名のとおり背とアームがUの字をしているので「U chair」です。単純な形態をしていますが、肘をゆったりと掛ける事が出来てなかなかの座り心地です。 このUの字の部材をフィンガージョイント+削り出しをしていますので、とても「木」らしい魅力的な印象に仕上がりました。(小泉誠)

The back and the arm’s shape is “U”, and maybe you can imagine the form from the name. The form is very plain, but you can feel comfortable when you sit and lean your arms on it. The part of “U” shape is shaved out from the lumber and we use finger-joint technique for it, so it gives you the attractive impression of wood characteristic.
